Hi again.

We have decided to apply for a fiance visa and intend to submit the application in 3 weeks when I visit Thailand.

I think that I have everything together that I need, but just need clarification on a few points:

I have now complied a file containing the following:

* Sponsor letter/letter of intent to marry in April 2010

* My bank statements and savings

* Proof of my employment (wage slips and contract)

* All my finace's ID, Copy of passport, copies of previous 2 tourist visas,

* Joint UK bank account statements

* Copy of my passport with all visa stamps in and out of Thailand for the last 4 years

* Copies of phone billls

* emails, letters, cards etc

* Photos

1) What is the best way to present all the information? I heard that If I submit it in a file he will just need to remove it at the Visa centre.

2) Do we need to make an appointment to make a fiance visa application?

3) Do we need to have set a date for the marrage? if so do we need proof that I have already made a booking at the registry office?

4)Should we complete the VAF1F? We intend to marry, apply for FLR and settle in the UK.

5) Is there any more information that I should submit that I have not already mentioned?

Any advice will be gratefully received.

File is fine neatly set out your application.

2) Do we need to make an appointment to make a fiance visa application?

On line only applications are better and yes make an appointment.

3) Do we need to have set a date for the marriage? if so do we need proof that I have already made a booking at the registry office?

You cannot make a booking until the foreign national arrives in the UK, but show intent to marry.

4)Should we complete the VAF1F? We intend to marry, apply for FLR and settle in the UK.

Online applications and you select the correct application yours is to marry/fiance visa application.

5) Is there any more information that I should submit that I have not already mentioned?

No looks good to me however too much is always better than too little.

Form VAF1F is for a marriage visitor; that is someone who wishes to visit the UK to marry and then leave the UK after the marriage. Someone entering the UK in this category must leave after a maximum stay of 6 months and cannot apply for FLR in the UK!

Form VAF4A, which is for settlement, is the correct form for the OP.

Thanks, :)

I have just printed the VAF4A form off the internet, I'm really glad that you replied asI had thought that we needed the VAF1 and was getting ready to submit this.

I just have a few more questions:

On the first question, 'what is your main purpose of your application' Do I need to put to marry and then settle or something else?

Q8.4.1.2 Have you lived with your sponsor in a relationship like a marrage at any time?

Should I mention the following? We lived together for 10 months in Thailand, he then came to England with me on a tourist visa and lived with me for a further 6 months, he returned to thailand for 4 months(ish) while I remained in the UK, He then returned to England for a further 6 months where again we lived together. Or does this just confuse matters?

Also I dont really understand why they will need to know about his employment and expenditure as we are proposing that he leaves his job permanently this time, unlike on our previous tourist visa applications where he needed to return to his job.

Thanks again

Also,

If he comes into the UK on a Settlement (VAF4A) Visa and not a fiance visa (VAF1) Do we then need to apply for a Certificate of Approval to get married? or can he legally marry on a settlement visa?

Thanks

You should do an on line application they don't accept these printed forms on line only for settlement/Fiancee applications.

You don't require a COA if she enters the country as your fiancee that is your permission to marry.

If she enters as a tourist she will require a COA which can take 12 weeks to obtain and she must return to Thailand to apply for settlement anyway the best course IMO is to either apply as a fiancee or marry in Thailand.

If you require professional help feel free to pm me we have an office in Thailand.

Hi lovednb

On the first question . Yes you need to put marry & then settle

Q8.4.1.2 You have lived together in a relationship akin to marriage . So list the dates of your stay in

Thailand and partners visa visits .Refer to visa stamps, photos any other documentary evidence. You may not have definitive proof but the Officer can decide on " Degree of probability ".

This certainly does not confuse matters as you want to show the longevity and commitment in the

relationship.

With regard to any further documents not mentioned by yourself . Mortgage statement or rent book/

tenancy agreement of residence where you intend to live.

If you have been previously married submit your Decree Absolute . This was requested of me and you

know how stressful it is being reliant on Recorded Mail to "the land of smiles "

He will need his Tuberculosis certificate prior to submission and this will take up best part of a day so

factor this into your timetable.

Good luck . :)

Another question, thought I would post it here rather than start another new topic.

I will obviously be including photocopies of my passport and a couple of other documents. Can I certify these myself or do I need to get a solicitor or someone else to do it? has anyone ever had any problems for certifying themselves?

Thanks
