When you arrive the first time, you don't need a re-entry as you leave after 30 day's but if you intend to stay longer then 30 day's the second time you either need a 2 month visa or have to leave the country after at least 30 + 7 day's (possible extension at the Immigration) or you make a short trip to the border and get a 15 stay for Thailand. There you are with your needed 45 day's for the second stay. Visa-Trip about 2'400.-Baht.

You also can obtain a longer visa from the Embassy before you leave your country, 2 month tourist-visa with a re-entry or a longer one with re-entry's so you are safe when you come back from your first trip and don't have to leave the country again.

There are two possibilities here.

When entering Thailand the first time, try to tell immigration not to use your visa, but rather stamp you in on a 30 day visa free stay.

If this works, you can stay for 30 days. Then fly to PI, come back after 2 weeks and then use your tourist visa for an additional 60 days.

Make sure your tourist visa will still be valid when coming back to Thailand. You'll find this date on your visa, it's called the "use before" date.

If immigration does stamp you in on your tourist visa when arriving the first time (they sometimes demand you use the visa they find in your passport), you can indeed get a re-entry permit (1000 Baht).

Stay 30 days, the go to PI, and come back to Thailand after 14 days. You will then have about 13 days left on your tourist visa (they will stamp the same date as you got when entering the first time with your tourist visa), which you can extend for 30 days at immigration for a fee of 1,900 Baht.

Which would get you close to your planned stay.

A double entry tourist visa would have made things much easier!
