JimsKnight
Well, Yahoo's gone and done it. They've set the scuttling charges and sent the lot down into the deep black hole. Geocities, so beloved by folks wanting a no-frills and freebie website is no more: http://www.webpronews.com/topnews/2009/10/...days-remembered Anyone on TV affected by this? eek
I was affected, but thankfully i read the warnings about closure some time ago so moved some stuff i had geocities host for me. Not big deal stuff, just some personal stuff, but been there for some time with a large number of hits. Took me some time to copy to a new site (as i had to do it all manually )
Tywais
Was informed of it many months ago as I'm a member of a GeoCities WebRing. In this case, the webring system was migrated over to another facility and me with them.
katana
Had a free site there, and moved it recently to another free web host. They didn't allow you to leave a forwarding site address, presumably to encourage you to take out paid services with them.

The reason I ask that is that AFAIK the carrot dangled by Geo was a paid-for server...
