I ask because I have my eye on some business but I need to know more about possible tourism increase in the next 2 years. I hear they are building an airport? There is already an airport in Chumphon; it's actually in Pathiu about 30 km north that serves the city. Chumphon is well poised for a massive expansion if people stop investing in gold and instead dive into the coconut futures market; otherwise I think it's less than expanding. The steel mills in Bang Saphan will probably not expand and probably no power plants coming.
October 31, 200916 yr I'll be happy if it modernizes / expands as I've just taken a 2 year lease on a house there so the kids can attend school in the area.

Yes,it has an airport but no flights. true, many people took a good bath, speculating on the air port location. It has become more user friendly over the last decade but it still remains moistly a kick off point to koa toa. the town itslef has a good infrastructure and as an other posted has a decent school system for thais. imho 24 mo. with an outlook to see it a tourist destination is wishful thinking.
