Hi, I have been trying to book a flight with PBAir online for the past week or so with no luck, been using their online booking for a few years now with no problem.

I e-mailed them yesterday stating my problem, here is the reply I received today.

Dear Mr.

Thank you for choosing PB Air as your carrier of choice, We regrets to informed you that all destinations is temporally closed for operations due to the shortage of aircraft. Hence, online booking blocked for reserved now. Please kindly accept our apologized for your inconvenience.

With best regards,

Jaturaporn

Just thought I would give you a heads up if anybody is having the same problem as myself.

Hope they sort it out before the end of the month, or is there more to this story. Anybody got any information ??

Best Regards

Mr Conrad

Hi

Think the contract with Bangkok Airways to operate the routes has now expired, as PB air no longer have any aircraft in their own right you now have the situation of an airline with no aircraft unable to service is scheduled routes!

Only in Thailand Huh... well perhaps Zimbabwe! :)

I seem to recall that earlier this year they were in negotiations to lease a couple of ATR 42's can't remember from where or who was going to operate them if not PBair.

TBWG :D

InSiSongkram 'wrote'

I tried to book last month and had real difficulty and ended up flying from Udon with Air Asia I would say they are going out of business which is a shame if you live right up in NE Isaan like I do as I`ll have to travel more to Udon.

Hi I have ended up doing the same, wife now driving down to pick me up in Udon. Only problem is that it's turning into a shopping trip as well now. :)

Hope Pbair get some aircraft shortly and start flying again soon.

Best Regards

Mr Conrad

Anyone got any more info? I am stuck on a ship and have got 5 tickets booked with PB air for 28th Nov!!!

If it all goes bad, how long does it take to drive from Udon to Sri Songkram? Anyone know?

What a pain, got the whole family coming over and dont suppose I will get a refund either.

PS Any Taxi info would be appreciated......

I flew back with them from BKK a few weeks ago, well it was PB Air but another aircraft carrier so they are still doing flights it`s just not as easy to get a seat these days as they are not doing many flights. If you have an advanced booking you should be ok but to be on the safe side call and check in advance as there are many cancellations.

Udon is about a 3 hr drive.

PB Air are/were great - What a shame. I need to fly to Sakon Nakhon tomorrow (Wednesday) morning to attend a funeral in the afternoon. I thought I would get the PB Air flight at 7.30 am and arrive before 9 am as I have done before.

Any thoughts how I can fly there. I have tried all other airlines, but nothing seems to go there now???

Thanks for any advice you may have.

Terrible news for all the people living in the NE I wonder is someone else will take up the route to Sakhon and Nakhon or surely the airports will close down? Keep the info coming if anyone has any news.

Meh! :)

. . . and what's wrong with a trusty old VIP bus? I used to use the PB Air sky choo choo at great cost . . . now I'm happily used to a 500 Baht bus ride, Phon Thong (Roi-Et) to Rayong.

These are hard time don't ya know? :D

Mrs rang them today and they are still in business just waiting on new planes, they can't garuntee our flights on the 29th Nov yet so we will go via Udon instead. The travel agent have given us a full refund anyway so not as bad as I feared.

Some good news then - As for MJP's suggstion - I would never take a bus for more than about 4 hours anywhere - so unless the flights start up again I will just not travel to this area. Fortunately my wife went up by bus yesterday, so at least she made it to the funeral.

I struggled the first time. Got on the wrong bus, not VIP, the other end of the scale. Had diarrhea too. Awful experience. VIP buses are great if you get the right ones. I've no issues now with traveling long distance by bus/coach. Not in a rush anymore. Get the night bus and kind of bed down and wake up in the morning at the destination.

Easy!

Actually I have to have a hip replacement - and sitting on a bus for more than 4 hours would be agony - otherwise I would not miss my wifes fathers funeral which is taking place today - so why dont you go and ... :D

edit: I removed the bad language - however you no doubt get the drift of my reply !!!

Yes, that's not compatible with riding buses and I would say 4 hours would end up in pain. Sorry you missed Pa's funeral and I hope you get that that hip sorted, improve the quality of life. Not much fun.

The bus service to Sakon from Mo chit and vice versa has had a lot of business from myself recently.

I decided to take the plane.Only to find out they were having 'Technical problems'. That was on the 5th

Nov. Another bus journey here we go. I thought Thai fly to Nakon Phanom?

I just hope they sort something out.

As far as I know PB Air operated the flights to/from Sakon Nakhon and Nakhon Phanom in partnership with Thai Airways. PB Air ran it all and Thai just tagged their name on. Hope they get some planes soon I have a flight on 17th December. Have all the flights been stopped or is there a reduced schedule with less aircraft? Or do they just have NO planes.

Will be a sad day for places such as Roi-Et if PB Air is not back in business soon.

I cannot believe any Farang would consider the bus service from Isaan to BKK. I regularly drive the 580kms and almost every time there is the remains of a bus that has crashed off the road due to sleepy driver and red bull wearing off. Great way to end it all I would suggest.

Are you talking about the yellow buses? This does worry me a bit. They do travel at some precarious speeds. It does scare the cr@p out of me at times.

Add to that, a big fat guy that's married to my sister-in-law is a bus driver in London, won't go near the coaches over here for fear of death. Saying that, a Thai friend won't fly PB Air out of Roi-Et, drives all the way to Khon Kaen I think to catch a Thai Airways flight. Shudders when I mention PB.

The thing I can never ever understand is how they possibly ever operated Roi-Et airport on what, a flight every couple of days with 40 people on board. I mean it's a nice airport, the subsidy must be massive.

The wifes brother works at Nakhon Phanom airport, I'll ask her to ask him what's going on the next time she phones home, we always fly PB Air to NP from BKK, great airline with comfy planes although the missus flew from BKK to NP in July and she said that they were using different planes, older planes and the flight took 1 hour 30 minutes as opposd to 1 hour.

It'll be a big loss if there are no flights to NP as the flights are usualy pretty full.

I was in Isaan at the end of October and the beginning of November to visit my gf. We travelled by VIP bus from BKK to Mahasarakham (not sure of company) and then from Khon Kaen to BKK using Nakhon Chai Air (stupid name for a bus company). First Class was full so we used Gold Class which was fine just slightly narrower seats I think. I know they use 2 drivers for safety. Certainly more comfortable than 7 to 9 hours flying in economy as I have to do when flying to Thailand. I don't have a hip problem but my back is not good following a car accident in 1994 and I found it ok.

Nakhon Chai Air happens to be the best bus company in Thailand (safety) and has excellent service. Oh and your name sounds stupid also to a Thai so get use to there names. :)

One would think so, as the market for domestic air passenger service is as stable and secure as it's ever been. Hard economic times as they are, it's a wonder if any of the domestic carriers can stay afloat. The indicators usually are drastic cutbacks on particular routes. PB Air's troubles are really recent, as it is just now starting to show it's true colours. Remembering the good old days when Thai Air domestic served all the mid-minor routes......alas.
