thaimate
Just recieved a phone call from a Thai lady ,saying she was from central dept store (i have an expat card) asking me for my address and e mail and also my passport no!!! i informed her that i do not give out personal details over the phone and that anyway they had my e mail address and send me loads of e mails .i then put the phone down. Have any of you lot been rung up and why would they want this information? by the way her english was terrible.
whatchamacallit
Nothing to worry about - you did the right thing!. Got calls like this at least twice a month - just hang it up!
soundman
These "mailing list" scams are becoming increasingly popular. Best thing to do is ask them for a number to return the call in a few minutes when you have finished what you are working on, & if they supply it, verify it's authenticity. If they hesitate, politley ask them if they are based in Jungwat SuChow (sp?) and see how fast they hang up the phone! Note: (SuChow - province in China?? - last year wife had these scammers trying the ATM tax refund scam on her & she swears they were from SuChow after listening to their spoken accent)
