Does anyone have experience or know how easy it is to obtain a tourist visa in Tokyo, Japan?

If so, are muliple entry visas issued?

How 'Visa friendly' are the Thai Embassy in Tokyo?

Second Question: In order to obtain an automatic 30 day visa, one needs a return ticket from Thailand within 30 days. However you could change you return flight date when in Thailand then continue with visa-runs to Cambodia etc, then hopefully get a tourist visa in Penang etc. Is there a flaw in this possible plan? Thanks in advance.

For Japan, sorry no experience.

Your second question. Yes. The airlines are only interested that you have the ticket. It can be changed in the best case up to 12 months. This depends on the tariffs used, expiry on excursion tickets etc. But a full paid ticket is valid for 12 months and any bookings shown can be changed.

If you convince the Embassy that you are a bona fide tourist you shouldn't have too much trouble in obtaining at least two entries. Generally speaking, Embassies are rarely visa friendly.
