Hi,

First of all sorry if this post is in the wrong section of the forum. I want sure where it should go.

I am married and live in the UK with my Thai wife with who'm I married in Bangkok this January. She is here in the UK on a 2yr residency visa.

We had our first son in August this year who was born in the UK and has a UK birth certificate & is a british citizen. I now need to get him a UK passport for our forthcoming holiday to Thailand in January. Not as easy as I thought....

I have been informed by the UK Passport Authority that I have to provide a copy of our marriage certificate as proof we are married. I informed them it was in Thai. I was then told that I have to get it translated into English. I then asked about are there any guidelines as who can translate this. They said it must be an official translation. I asked if there's a list of approved translators. They said no. But it has to be someone with the correct qualifications. I asked what qualifications they must have. But was told they didn't know but I could "google" thai-english translators and I would find many places which could do this for me.

Has anyone here got any ideas on where I could get this done in the UK? And has anyone been thru a similar scenario themselves?

Thanks in advance,

Paul
