Isa Will Cover All Of Bangkok

Featured Replies

From the publication we cannot mention I read that the [people in charge] choose to enact the ISA for WHOLE of Bangkok to avoid having red groups spreading out to the patches not covered by the initial proposition.

Sooooo...this leaves us with:

- Everyone is now affected by the ISA.

- What exactly does the ISA entail?

It is not like martial law and rules against assemblies over 5 people etc. But what does it mean for us club-goers on Saturday? (Why didn't they just enact it for Sunday, when they protests are scheduled to start...?)

Probably Nothing...

... that depends on what the protesters and the authorities do, for the rest of us.. weekend as normal :)

will they deploy soldiers on Bangkok's streets?

start of the protests were moved from sunday to saturday and will end day earlier, 2.12.

more protests commence on the 6th

So does that mean that as long as we avoid dressing in red when we get hammered we will not be dragged away? :)

Or I should ask: What are the chances that some places will be allowed to be open past 2am this weekend?

The 2AM policy is more up to the local police office, I don't think it has anything to do with the ISA. The ISA is only going to affect Thai citizens who want to protest in large groups, so as a foreigner, you have nothing to worry about. I doubt that there will be a larger police or military presence unless a certain group decides to mobilize first. All this will do is hopefully keep the roads clear, and keep the tourists feeling safe, which is what it is designed to do.

If the police will be replaced by the army, therefore there will be nobody co enforce the 2am carfew!!! We can drink till 5 AM!!!

I know the ISA doesn't affect the closing time [in regulations], however the mere presence of trouble might cause this weekends presumed relaxation of the rules to be halted and the 2am regulation to be strictly enforced, as over Halloween.

It was supposed to be relaxed this weekend? I know the last time they did this is was over a month before places slowly started to revert to normal, as well, there is a certain birthday coming up, traditionally there are more regulations before and after this event. Has there been indication that this time will be different?

There was talks in another thread that indicated that this weekend might be more relaxed than the previous. But that was before the ISA was announced.

And the removal of the ISA is not done right away, they will wait and see if the reds still assemble most likely...argh...
