Thailand/laos Border Crossings

Featured Replies

Sorry, I'm not real flash about border crossings to Lao from Thailand. I was talking with a friend who needs to cross for his thai visa and he was asking me about advice regarding crossing at Nakhon Phanom/Thakhek point or the Mukdahan/Savannakhet point.

I started reading the various threads on thaivisa and then got really confused. Are these border crossing points still available and is a visa on arrival for laos still available at the border? I believe he holds a visa for return to Thailand, so thats not a problem.

Or does he need to go elsewhere. Fancy asking me, I just fly everywhere out of swampy :) .

Both border points you mention are alive and well. Muk-SVKT sometimes easier as go via the bridge. NKP-THK is via boat.

You will probably be better off here ND. Moved.

Well thanks for that info TM, I will pass that info on & I assume you can get lao visa by applying once you arrive at the border. cheers.

Lao Visa at the border around 1,500 Baht. Don't forget the passport size photo.

Visa to Laos varies in cost depending on your home country. They accept US$ or Thai Baht, but of course you will lose on the exchange if you pay with Thai Baht.
