Golden Retriever Puppy?

I want to buy a golden retriever puppy for my son (that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it!). I wonder if anyone knows of a breeder in Chiang Mai or anywhere where I might buy one? I am keen to find a breeder rather than just buying it from a market as I have heard so many bad reports and know people who have been sold dogs that turned out to be sick or not what they were supposed to be.

Any advise would be welcome

Lanna Goldens: http://lannagolds.any.co.th/aboutus.html

The owner, Khun Chatchawan, speaks good English.

Tel. 081 951 0873

The kennel is located on Chiang Mai Land, behind the tennis court and swimming pool which are just behind the veterinary clinic Ban Mha ka Meaw.

As it seems coming April he will have 3 litters: http://lannagolds.any.co.th/litters.html

Mike from mealsonwheels has one of Lanna Goldens' pups. Gorgeous dog with a lovely character.

He hasn't updated his website in a while now, I think that's from a couple years back. I have just been round to visit his kennel. He has a litter coming in December. Pups will be 10000~50000 baht and up. Beautiful dogs tho!!

Oops you're right. I only looked at the month and not the year, which is 2551 (2009).

His price for a non-show dog is between 10,000 and 15,000 baht, alright. But at least you know that you get a physical and mental sound bred dog. And that's what I like about Lanna Goldens.

I do think that he is over-vaccinating, though, which can cause mobility problems to the pup among many other problems.

50,000 baht for a dog, it must be a very special dog for that price.

Just curious from observation while in Chiang Mai. I noticed two breeds of dogs there. Goldens and muts. Are there any other breeds in Thailand? Not a joke, I'm serious. :)

All I could think of was some regulation not allowing other breeds but I have no idea.

Hi, Bolo--

You can get whatever kind of dog you like in Chiang Mai and anywhere else here.

Virtually every breed of dog is available in Thailand, including breeds that are unique to the

country, such as the Thai_Bangkaew (see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thai_Bangkaew_Dog).

Thanks Paul. That's very interesting and quite a coincendence too. Growing up I had a Spitz or type of Spitz as the article points out. Mine was pure white compared to this one having a slight brownish tint to it. It was exactly as this link describes it also. The dog was very agile and hyper too.

Since we are on dogs here I'll put in my favorite dog so far in my life. hahah I had a West Highland Terrier a few years ago. Was a great dog. Very loyal, great watchdog, smart and always by yourside. Small but tough as can be. Loved to play rough. I had the dog trained to roll over in one week. After a while she would cut her roles in half to get her treat. hahah
