"Someone is really stupid to think they could get away with the murder of the billionaire wife of a Thai police general"

No more stupid than someone thinking they could rob a Saudi Prince of his massive jewel collection.........and get away with it!

Interesting case that is as detailed at http://jotman.blogspot.com/2009_08_01_archive.html

I haven't been following that matter but see how it might be similar or might even be related to this murder. I will stay tuned and expect this murder will be solved but apparently it may take some time.

A real pro hitter would have taken a headshot and been sure. But TIT.

:)

LMAO - Now we have Thai Visa assassin experts too - just when you think you'd read it all....

What can I say I lived in NYC for a spell.

You most everything there if you there long enough.

Did they nail Sondhi with 170 shots... nope.

Case closed.

Millionaire businesswoman's murder blamed on family

By The Nation

Published on December 2, 2009

Apart from the many business conflicts and legal battles she was having with several people, businesswoman Sunattee Nerngchamnong's murder could have stemmed from arguments about assets that she shared with family members, a police source quoted her husband as saying yesterday.

The source said Pol Maj-General Piyachart Nerngchamnong also cited a conflict his late wife had with someone close to her.

"Apart from these possible motives, I see no other reasons for her murder," he said.

Police have released a sketch of two hooded men as per accounts provided by people who witnessed the shooting last Sunday night. The officers are currently interviewing other witnesses who saw two mysterious men camped out in a wood not far from Sunattee's home two weeks before the murder and are working on a new sketch based on the latest information.

The two men had allegedly set up a hammock and were often seen resting in it before the shooting. However, they have not been seen since. Police believe one was a gunman and the other an accomplice, and are hoping the new sketches taken from the latest accounts would depict the two suspects more clearly.

Samut Prakarn's Rachathewa police station is joining hands with officers from the Udomsuk police station as well as detectives from the Metropolitan Police Division 4 to help solve the case. Sunattee is known to have filed several complaints with Rachathewa police accusing many people of various crimes and of receiving murder threats.

Apart from the 23 criminal and civil lawsuits she had lodged so far, police learned that she had filed another four criminal and two civil lawsuits at the Phra Khanong District Court in 2007.

Relative now a prime suspect

Co-owner of vast land tracts in Chon Buri made death threat, police allege

Police investigating the murder of wealthy businesswoman Sunattee Nerngchamnong discovered a potential lead yesterday - business conflicts she had over a vast area of land in Chon Buri worth Bt10 billion jointly owned with a relative.

Sunattee also jointly operated two markets in prime parts of Ban Bueng. Police said she received a death threat after she refused to comply with a co-owner's demand to increase the monthly stall rental from Bt500 to Bt1,500.

The land alone is worth around Bt10 billion, given an estimated price of Bt1 million per rai, in a total area of around 10,000 rai located mostly in prime areas and along a major highway. These plots belong to her and a man who was a relative and shared the same surname.

A police source said Sunattee's husband, Pol Maj General Piyachart, also implicated this unidentified individual as a potential suspect.

Pol General Phanuphong Singhara na Ayutthaya, a senior investigator on the case, asked for 30 days to identify masterminds behind the murder, after he set a session on Sunday to update progress from the 50-strong investigation team.

The officer said police now had better clues about the motorcycle used by the killers, but gave no further details.

Police are also working on a new sketch of two men seen camping not far from her home two weeks ago, who were thought to be the gunman and the motorcycle driver.

Police had completed a sketch, depicting two men in hoods, but later scrapped it and turned to work on a new sketch, relying on witnesses who saw the men's unmasked faces when they slept and used a hammock in a wood nearby Sunattee's home.

Police said they were working on a classic homicide theory - who would benefit most from the huge amount of assets and business conflicts if Sunattee was eliminated. They played down an earlier theory about the legal battles she had with many people.

The 27 lawsuits she was involved in are mostly civil cases in which Sunattee was the defendant. "The plaintiffs would rather be put at a disadvantage if she was dead, as those cases demand compensation and payment from her," a police source said.

Detectives are now collecting intelligence in three provinces, Chon Buri, Phetchaburi and Phetchabun, which are known as sanctuaries of gunmen, in order to identify possible leads on whether the killing team was recruited from these places.

Its sad to think that someone who apparently thought charitably about her tenants would be so ruthlessly killed...even more horrible to think it could be a relative of hers!

My sympathies to the family--siajai duay...

You don't just "become" a property developer....You have some sort of $$$ beforehand. Just interested to know where it came from?

RAZZ

She's from an old Cholburi family with substantial real estate holdings and hence rental income. Not to mention that most folks usually don't have just one-two business interests as wealth building engines.

A billionaire sounds 'big' here but it's important to remember we're talking Baht.

:)

are u saying billions of baht is not big :D

It's all relative, and yes, it's big IMO. Just a reminder that it's not even close to being a 'real currency' billionaire. Billionaire with an asterisk perhaps. Kind of like the way some folks who have been living here for awhile say things like... 'spent 4 grand at the mall.' 4 "grand" as in $125.

:D
