Fog Light

Actually these lights are used in car and truck for safe driving.

Except it is illegal in Thailand to drive with them on in the city or when not used within their intended purpose. Been stopped before for that infraction. :)

They stop you for everything they like. They will always find a reason. They not even know what is the difference between a fog or a spotlight! There are NO fog lights in Thailand. This are all Bumper Spot lights only! Mosthly made in china shit, they just make light, that's it, like a 150 Baht Tesco flashlight. They don't stray a picture in a wide angle, as they shouyld. In Europe a foglight are checked by the ministery of transportation (Goverment) and they are definated as foglight because it beams 30 meter far with a horizontal wide angle of almost 180 degree. So you can see left and rightside of the road, what's going on, even when snowing. But most of the bumper spotlights in Thailand goes only max 1 meter in the front of the car and no brightside at all, no wide angle, because they are just lights, like a strong positionlight. Of corse they never adjusted correctly, not even from the factory. The lenses of sportlights and foglights are compleately different. foglight lenses are verticaly ripped (to make a bright wide angle 180 degree vision) they should beam not more thgan 30 meter in the front of the car, but they stray the light vertically in a wide angle. Spotlightlenses are just clear lenses, they should beam far, (over 75 meter), but not in a wide angle, similar as a High Beam.

These are what are on my new Civic 2.0 from factory. The lenses appear to be designed for wide horizontal (left-right) angle and they are quite bright but have not tried them at night to see their throw. Looks like a quartz halogen lamp inside. What do you think they are? My previous '93 Nissan Bluebird SSS was the one stopped for using the lights in town and they were pretty intense, also factory fitted. They were also larger and rectangular.
