I'm sure if I ever get to Thailand and take a TEFL course this will be covered, and I searched for threads with "Prathom" and didn't find the answer, so I'll ask what any teacher in Thailand would know, so I can understand some of what I'm reading...

Would someone kindly explain the Prathom/Mathyom system? I don't know the order of the grades and ages of students in those grades, and at what level(s) students can graduate or quit school.

Prathom is like elementary levels starting from one to six. Children attend P1 at the age of six. Mattayom (secondary) is separated into two - early (M.1-M.3) and late (M.4-M.6). Students that finish M.6 move onto universities or colleges.
