Norwegian man charged with abduction in bizarre case at Pattaya Police Station.

An interesting but disturbing case was presented to Police Sub-Lieutenant Santipon at Pattaya Police Station on Wednesday night. In front of him were Khun Chawiwan aged 40 and Mr. Rune Brandsrud aged 49 from Norway. According to Khun Chawiwan, who is the owner of the Gaew Jai Restaurant in Soi Bongkot, South Pattaya, Mr. Brandsrud had frequented her restaurant on numerous occasions and on every occasion and told Khun Chawiwan that he loved her and she should come back to his house. She refused every time and told Police that she simply did not like him in that way. Late on Tuesday Night she finally agreed to go back to the man’s house where she was allegedly kept under duress. Apparently Mr. Brandsrud who at this point was brandishing a stun gun told Khun Chawiwan that she could not leave and was angry that she would not have sex with him. Somehow the next day she escaped and returned to her restaurant. Mr. Brandsrud followed her and trapped her and her staff at the restaurant using his stun gun. Police decided that although some parts of the story were suspect, Mr. Brandsrud should be arrested and locked up on a charge of abduction.
