how about you ask for either brilliant or incredibly cheap? let's be realistic...

I'll second that. Fact is, you can get bad work done incredibly cheaply but if you want brilliant work or high quality support, that costs. If you go the low-end route then you may save some baht up front, but you are likely to face a lot of downtime and headaches later on. That cheap deal may begin to look pretty expensive if you factor in the cost of your own time dealing with problems.
