Thai Authorities Blocking All Ip Addresses!

Featured Replies

Is it just me?? I know the Thai authorities blcok many porn urls, but from yesterday a new scenario seems to have arisen.

I usually connect to my business servers in the UK by specifying their IP address in my browser. Now I get a message saying that the Smart Filter has blocked access!!

Currently, I can still connect to IP addresses using different ports, such as telnet etc.

But I am very worried. If the Thai authorities block IP access on all ports, then this will cause major problems to many people who need to connect remotely to servers outside of Thailand.

The only solution would be to assign a url to the IP, such as 'http://thisisnotapornsiteyounumbskulls.com'

What ISP are you using ? I'm using CS Loxinfo ADSL in Bangkok and can still access websites by IP address as normal. No problems with FTP, telnet etc either.

Right now I'm using KSC Internet. I'll try CS Loxinfo when my top-up card runs out (in a few hours...)

If they were blocking access to an IP address, your suggested solution would not work. Fully qualified domain names are always resolved to IP addresses. Computers use IP addresses not FQDNs to communicate.

ports ? what ports, if your IP is blocked? are you sure that is your problem?

Call the ISP provider and ask them as they should be able to check the route. My company connects to external IP addresses all the time without this problem.

If you post us the IP we can try it for you (if it's not a matter of security)

Please state what isp you use and what package though, otherwise ppl here cannot help you much. Also anyone answering should also state what isp and package they are on.

im using a KSC hotspot @ the moment, and can connect using an IP in explorer no pomplem :o

connecting to corp. server through top-up card bought in any shop, without any secure/reliable connection, so anything can block your access to it ?!

I really doubt you're serious. seems like just trying to get help to access p2p or other file-sharing service in UK and got kicked by Inet watchdods.

I haven't seen such message here, but a lot in NY servers.

really, what's the deal?
