To my knowledge you can not access Preah Vieah from either side as military control all assess in Thailand and Cambodia..

I believe you are right, Gottost. Its a great shame as its well worth a visit.

Took a drive out that way from Kantaraluk and was a NO GO! Military check point will turn you around, plus all the waterfall around the area are alos closed.

You can do it from the Cambodian side. I went there with a few friends by taxi. We wanted to set up a tent near the temples, but the miliary guys told us we cant do it. Instead they invited us to stay at their base. We had an awesome dinner with the soldiers, and surprisingly they asked if we wanted to meet Thai soldiers..! So there we were, taking pictures with khmer and thai soldiers. The guys from different sides of this conflict were really friendly with each other, just making the best of their time as they are posted at this temple. No hostility or anything going on with these guys. It was cool! :)

If you are in Cambodia, do Angkor Wat in preference to PV. Yes PV is nice and has a wonderful location but Angkor Wat is a breathtaking world class site.

Hopefully the boarders disturbance at Preah Vieah will come to a honorable conclusion for both sides but as for you so called adventure travelers you have checked your brains in at customs. Why do you thank there are solders on both sides of PV carrying guns, just for looks? Why do you thank there are land mines on both sides just for you adventure traveler that you so you can say that was so cool when I got my arm blown off and my friends got there legs blown off. And when you get into trouble in a place you should not be you will cry for your government to come save moms little boy or girl. That was so cool. :D PS..Don't call me.

Why so fearful?

I think its more dangerous on the Thai and Cambodian roads you have to travel until you get to Preah V. than actualy, also now be there!

And I think I am not wrong when I pretend and believe that!

I was once there, some years ago, from the Thai side and liked it, also I did stay on the Thaiside did not walk around inside the temple complex.

Its so awesomely cool for the adventure traveler to sign up with the villagers for a live shoot out.http://www.phnompenhpost.com/index.php/2009121130150/National-news/logger-killed-at-border-police.html :)

I've been to PV from the Thai side perhaps ten times and it's sad that it's now closed.

In Cambodia last week, I was told you can go from there which surprises me as the soldiers have been killing each other and it acts as lightning rod for the current tensions betwee the two countries. The road is very bad but work is being done on it.

The risk of road accidents is almost always much worse than the political risks wherever you go.

Thank you Andrew for your information.

Possible, that we try to visit from the Cambodian side.

If so, I keep you informed.
