Dates

Featured Replies

Does anyone know of a wholesale supplier of Dates? They are way to expensive in Tops/ Central to buy retail.

I want bulk.

Thanks!

This won't help you much, but I was walking past the market at Tha Chang a couple of weeks ago and there was a stand selling dried fruits including dates. They were 20 baht for a pretty big bag and they were really good.

I asked the seller where they were from and she said they grow them in the Southern Thailand. I don't know if that's true, but they were cheap and good, so they must be sold in bulk somewhere.

Someone told me i can find them at Super Cheap here in Phuket. I also heard that they have them in Malaysia so I am sure your guy is right. 20 baht is Great!

I should say it seemed like a big bag for 20 baht. There were probably about 10-12 reasonably big dates in the bag.

...she said they grow them in the Southern Thailand. I don't know if that's true... Possible, but not likely. Malaysia according to the FAO is one of the top 5 importers of dates from Middle East / Egypt production areas. For the most part, it takes a desert to grow dates... including the Coachella valley (desert) in California east of LA.

My Thai is pretty bad. She might just have been saying that they came from Malaysia.
