Win 7 And No Beep

Featured Replies

When I am very bored because my WinXP SP3 works without any problems as usual then I switch to my Win7 test installations :)

I could not get a beep there. I am talking about the beep of the motherboard speaker. I need this for some software. Skype for instance is one. With the motherboard speaker you can hear a call. My normal speakers are mostly switched off.

Has anybody a motherboard speaker beep with his Win 7 installation? Anybody an idea what it could be that it does not work (have the latest Bios and drivers for my motherboard)? I get the same problem with Win7 32 Bit and 64 Bit. Or did Microsoft stop the support for this - but the driver is still there. In WinXP the beep works.

I never even knew you could get the onboard speaker to alert you to a call on Skype...learn something new everyday !!!

You could get one of those little (and cheap) USB speakers that install a sound driver on your system. Keep your main speakers as default sound device and configure skype to ring on the USB speakers. :)
