I am a British national and plan to go to Sri Lanka next year. While there I am wondering if I can apply for a Non-Immigrant(O) based on visiting friends? Failing that, is it possible to get a multiple entry tourist visa and does anyone know the real turn around time (2 days is stated on the website but I'm hoping it's faster than this)?

I tried to find a trip report using the search but I didn't get anything ... has anyone successfully obtained a visa there?

Doubt very much you will get multiple entry Non-Immigrant O visa on basis of visiting friends - which is I think what you are asking about. There are only a handful of consulates around the world that will issue. Perth is the nearest consulate (believe you are in Thailand) with signed copy of Thai friend ID/passport.

There is no mention on the Colombo embassy website that they can provide more than single entry tourist visa. Maybe best to give them a call if that's where you plan to go.
