hmm been thinking through this one..

How about,

One to put the bulb in, one who starts to criticize how the bulb is being put in, several who come to the bulbs inserter's defense, several more who start accusing those of defending as being bulb inserter apologists, a couple who make some random comment about Thai bulb sizes being smaller than western bulb sizes, those who sit back and just rant about bulbs in general for no apparent reason other to rant...

...um....im bored now...will finish this later. (<those who start making a point then ...)

light bulb inserter 'apologists'?...yeah, like it...

I say screw the apologists with relentless clockwise rotation...I get to 'complain' about light bulb insertion any time I want :) ...as a matter of fack, the apologists can bend over an' I'll let them have it with my highly charged 11.6kV cattle prod...

attached to the MV busbar an' ready to rumble, subject to forum rules, of course...

The detailed answer:

1 to change the light bulb and to post that the light bulb has been changed

14 to share similar experiences of changing light bulbs and how the light bulb could have been changed differently

7 to caution about the dangers of changing light bulbs

1 to move it to the Lighting section

2 to argue then move it to the Electricals section

7 to point out spelling/grammar errors in posts about changing light bulbs

5 to flame the spell checkers

3 to correct spelling/grammar flames

6 to argue over whether it's "lightbulb" or "light bulb" ... another 6 to condemn those 6 as stupid

2 industry professionals to inform the group that the proper term is "lamp"

15 know-it-alls who claim they were in the industry, and that "light bulb" is perfectly correct

19 to post that this forum is not about light bulbs and to please take this discussion to a lightbulb forum

11 to defend the posting to this forum saying that we all use light bulbs and therefore the posts are relevant to this forum

36 to debate which method of changing light bulbs is superior, where to buy the best light bulbs, what brand of light bulbs work best for this technique and what brands are faulty

7 to post URL's where one can see examples of different light bulbs

4 to post that the URL's were posted incorrectly and then post the corrected URL's

3 to post about links they found from the URL's that are relevant to this group which makes light bulbs relevant to this group

13 to link all posts to date, quote them in their entirety including all headers and signatures, and add "Me too"

5 to post to the group that they will no longer post because they cannot handle the light bulb controversy

4 to say "didn't we go through this already a short time ago?"

13 to say "do a Google search on light bulbs before posting questions about light bulbs"

1 forum lurker to respond to the original post 6 months from now and start it all over again.

The above are historical responses and cannot take credit for them. :)

To add a couple to the list:

1 member to ask how is this Thailand related?

3 members responding that Thailand has light bulbs too.

Ok Eek here goes

1- to post the question where can I buy a light bulb

2 - to accuse him of being a troll

17 - to tell him it would help if he gave his location and type of light bulb required

10- to tell him he could buy 16 different types of light bulb for the job

2- to tell him to use a candle

6000 - to tell him you can take the candle out of the bargirl but can't take the candle out of the bar

3 -to tell him if candles are mentioned again he will be having a posting holiday

1 - truly experienced person to supply his exact requirements - product whereabouts - and fitting information

3 - to accuse that person of subtly advertising his own business

300 - to tell him under no circumstances give to beggars on the way to the shop

1- to tell him that the restaurant next to the lightbulb supply shop charges for free soup

12 -to tell him where the best fish and chips are to be had, for when he completes the job

4 - to ask him to record the event for future reference in the DIY forum

2 - to hold the chair while he changes the bulb

20 - to point out that he should have had 'how to stand on a chair and change a lightbulb training'

29 - to point out that all lightbulb changers are the same in Thailand

3 - to point out that is a generalisation

1500 - to tell him if he fixes the light he will see how much sinsod he is paying

1600 - to tell him he shouldn't be paying it

1 - to remind him to switch the light on at the wall.....

and when he completes the task and looks around smiling and nodding in acknowlegement at all his assistants....1 to call him Bobblehead..... :)

Fun stuff! Wonder why this has not come up yet:

1 to mention that broken lightbulbs are yet another nail in the coffin of Thai tourism

Keep it on!

3 who can't post at present because they tried to get bulbs at King Power and were arrested for shoplifting... they'll comment once back in their respective home country

One to complain the his electrician Somchai just unscrews the old one and screws the new one in the socket and this is not how it should be done according the EU regulations.

One to tell him if he don't like it f*** off back to farangland.

One special member to close the thread as it's against forum rules to discuss screwing.

Oh not forgetting :D:D:D:clap2::cheesy::D:D:):D:D the emoticons who really get things done around here.

Have we done this one yet ?

100 to speculate on why the old lighbulb died and to demonstrate their amatuer CSI skills in coming to a murder hypothesis as the old lightbulb 'obviously' didn't hang itself..

Lightbulbs contribute to Global Warming. This should be on the agenda at Copenhagen.

shouldn't be too hard to provide illumination, just round up a few dozen or so illegal German overstayers named 'Hans'

(many hans make light work)

and don't forget the 5 posters who claim that what ever the problem is with the light bulb it is the fault of western women :D

And the same 5 claiming that Thai light bulbs really do like being screwed in by old western men, even when they get paid for it :D :D :)

Whoa bad girl bad girl! :D :D

(many hans make light work)

I confess to that making me laugh. Oh the shame.

---------------

I wondered if this thread would just immediately fall flat on its face, but great to see some really funny responses. :D

Ok..how about um..

One newbie to ask how to screw in the lighbulb

Several who will lambast him for not doing a search on this subject first

several more who complain about lambasting newbies and providing useful search links

A couple to ask where did he find the lightbulb in first place

Which in turn spurns on a topic digression about where one should obtain the highest quality lightbulbs...and they are all experts on this..because they all only have top quality hi-so bulbs.

I wonder, if in my next life, its my Karmatic curse now, to come back as a ....

That sounds about right, eek. I just wander around in the dark until somebody else does it for me. :D

My mechanic regularly replaces the bulbs in my motorbike. I don't think the Thai quality bulbs are very good, or maybe it's the faulty wiring or power surges.

I believe this to be a trick question. :D

Eek has not indicated any problem with the existing lightbulb so, in the spirit of "if it ain't broke don't mess with it", why are we changing it? :)
