Chiang Mai Hobby Shop?

Featured Replies

Does anyone know of a hobby shop in Chiang Mai? I'm specifically looking for R/C cars and boats but not interested in the ones being sold in the department stores.....wanting something with a bit more ZOOM!! Any ideas?

Saw a few in the back of Icon a while ago. It was right at he back next to a speaker shop. Might be worth a look.

The road that runs along side of Chang Klan road, (sorry don't know the name but Sacred Heart Church is on it), There are 2 hobby shops on there near the junction to the Empress hotel. I know they have RC cars, boats and planes there.

Yes there are a couple around there. I think it is Charoen Prathet.

The shop in Icon Square has some nice gas powered R/C cars and trucks, a couple of decent second hand deals too. Good luck.

Thanks for the leads. On the hunt this afternoon.

Hi! New to the forum and Chiang Mai.

Currently visiting but will be moving here late 2010/early 2011.

What classes of RC cars are popular here?

Any leads on track locations?

The Wings Shop is now carrying electric and gas RC cars. The owner, Khun Rangsee can tell you where the tracks are as he runs his cars all over the place. To find the Wings Shop, cross Narawat Bridge heading east. Turn left on Thong Hotel Road (across from the train station) and continue along it until you are almost at the Doi Saket Highway, #118. Once you see a 711 on the left, the shop is on the left about a 100 meters or so. Be forewarned this shop is very difficult to find as it has no sign and is set back from the road 10 meters or so and right next to other stores including a christian book store. It is probably the best shop in town to get top end RC aircraft and RC car parts. The owners' English is quite good. Good luck.

Thanin Market, just off Chang Puak Road.

A few shops down from Chiang Mai Direct makeup store. Next the the small coffee shop and Pharmacy.

Thai R/c racing car club meet most evenings (definitely every Friday about 8pm) in the Big C car park on the way to Hang Dong.

There is one flying club here, Top Gun:

and if you want a secluded free airfield to yourself (most of the time) there is another runway here in a deserted unfinished Moo Baan:

The stuff at Thanin Market is just cheap 'toy shop' stuff.
