Need Urgent Help! Foreign Motorbike Enter Thailand

Featured Replies

Not sure I’m positing to right forum..

I’m Malaysian who staying in Penang, thinking of riding motorbike to Krabi for holiday next week, however, I’m taking my friend’s bike, which means I am not the owner of the motorbike, will there be any issue? Or what document do I need to prepare?

Your help is much appreciated.

This should be in the "Bikes in Thailand" forum. i don't know the answer to your question, but you'd have a better chance of getting an answer there.

In the reverse direction a letter from the owner giving permission, the registration papers and a copy of the owners (signed) ID card are what they look for.

To be honest, crossing the Malay Thai border on Thai bikes and cars, I simply dont get asked.. Done it twice in last few months out and back and at no point did anyone ask for anything about the vehicles, just show my passport and through. This isnt the law (it says you must do temp import and export) but thats how they seem to be doing it in reality.
