Extension Of Stay?

Featured Replies

So I crossed into Thailand from Cambodia, so I have 15 days free (Canadian passport). No tourist visa, just the permission to stay stamps. Is it possible to get an extension? Getting out of Thailand is going to take longer than I'd planned, so I'm gonna end up overstaying by a couple days. And I'd rather not have the overstay stamp in my passport if I can help it. But the only information I can find is about extending a tourist visa. What if you had no visa to begin with? What is the process of extending this? I'm in Bangkok for a couple more days, so can I do it now? Or do I need to wait until closer to when it expires (Jan 2)? I could also get to Koh Samui if it's possible there.

Please let me know where I would go to extend this, and how much it would cost. Thanks!!

You can get a 7-day extension at any immigration office for a fee of 1,900 Baht. Bring a passport-size photo along, copies of your passport (ID page and last entry stamp) and the departure card stapled in your passport, both sides. Go anytime, no need to wait until later.

The single biggest problem in communication is the illusion that it has taken place

Actually believe the 7 days is not an extension of stay but an under consideration that will be refused in 7 days and I am quite sure starts the day of application and often will require proof of outbound travel be shown. Basically a visa exempt entry is not extend-able.

Yes, 7 days but they indeed will most likely ask for your outbound ticket to prove you will fly out in the 7 day period.

Do you think a train ticket to a border city would suffice as proof I'm leaving? Or do I need a flight?

My question is a similar. Arrived here on Australian passport and given 30 day stay. Need to stay for one extra week to catch cheap flight to Sri Lanka. Can I get an extension for a week, what are the alternatives? Applying for a Tourist visa?

Many thanks

well you can't apply for a tourist visa without leaving thailand.

you can get an extension for 7 days for 1900 baht. if you already have a flight out of thailand within that time period you should have no problems

A trip across border and return would get 15 days by land or 30 by air. You likely can obtain a 7 day under review type extension but it may require show of the ticket out.
