Just curious if people plan on doing anything special for the holidays.

Island beaches? mountains, somewhere else?

I chose "staying at home", Chiang Mai. Hoping to pick up a last minute Tusker's Xmas Party ticket - if I can actually get there when its open to book!

Staying at home, as this just gives the lunatics a reason to go out and drive drunk again. Christmas in Thailand? One goes into shops in Sawang and see Christmas trees and such and these folks have no clue as to the real meaning of the season and only know it means presents and parties. Nah, home and nowhere with the party-goers.

Just another excuse for businesses to inflate their prices (and profits). I shall stay home, or at least avoid the organised rip-offs and resume normal service after the holiday period! :)

Like Songkran when the masses head home or to some resort via overcrowded planes trains and automobiles, Bangkok is pleasant for a few days. Combined with the above, it's an easy choice for me.

At home with the family. :)

I also have itchy feet, but won't come back to LOS until July..pity that..time for tea. signed: not from the uk, but can talk like them

I was to be staying at home over the "festive" period but will now be travelling via Thailand back to the UK due to a family bereavement. :D

As an aside, I have bought my ticket HCMC to BKK return with Vietnam Airlines, $193 all up. So then went to book BKK to LHR return with THAI. The price? A snip at just under $4,500 :) . Yes I didn't believe it either, seems they want me to pick up the tab for the chairman's excess baggage. Will try again today with EVA or JetStar.

sit down dinner at my daughters school, should be fun but I wonder what the culinary delights are to be......

Unfortunately in Sydney, would rather be in Jomtien, but that will come later in the new year. However when I think of the pour souls in the U.K and those on the East Coast of the U.S, Sydney seems like a great place to be!!
