Going to travel from Pattaya to Surin and Buriram when our next Los holiday takes place in march, weighing up wether to Drive or get a taxi, now i know how much its is to rent a decent car for 4/5 days, i just need a rough idea how much a decent standard taxi would be? Any help would be great.

A taxi to Surin runs between 3000-4000 bt.

a couple of years ago I did DonM airport to Satuk (similar) and that was 3000 but the R-sole didn't know the way and we were in taxi for 8 hours, never again!!

Result, the Mrs has just phoned. One of her friends from pattaya has said he will drive us to surin in his pickup and wait (his family are from the same village) until we wish to return to patts.. all for 1500bht/day ...... winner

You could be lucky and find a cab driver from this area, but normally 3,000bht. Better rent a car to get around. Please take the 226 to Korat ( Nakhon Ratchasima)- Buri Ram- Surin. The other way, over Sai Keaow is a kind of dangerous, if you're not so familiar with driving in Thailand. Have a nice one.

Hiya, When I was last in Pattaya (Oct 2009) was looking to go to village north of Buriram, they quoted 1,500 Baht a day for limo? (Well car I guess) anyway looks like you are going to pay standard rate? If petrol is included you win if not "welcome to Thailand"

Big yellow Bus is cheaper and aircon as well, maybe not see as much as own car though. And be careful of big hill heading upcountry. Still a few robberies there I hear!!!

Anyway I will be just North of Buriram in March to. Was going to Pattaya first but thats changed as g/f is at home now
