Yesterday, while renewing my insurances, I raised this question to my insurance agent.

In my country, every family or everyone who lives alone needs to have a "familial Insurance".

The "Familial Insurance" is an insurance which takes care of incidents caused by family members.

For example:

1. My child is playing with friends at their house and while playig scratch the car.

The Familial Insurance will cover all the costs of repairing the car.

2. My dog manages to get out and a motorbike driver get's an accdent because of my dog.

The Familial Insurance will cover all the hospitalisation costs and the damages of the motorbike.

3. My child is playing foorball and shoots the bal in glass frontdoor of my neighbor.

The Familial Insurance will replace the glass of the frontdoor and compensate the costs of cleanng up the broken window.

4. I have a TV pylon (=antenna) outside my house and due to a severe wind the TV pylon breaks and fall on the roof of my neighbor.

The Familial Insurance will pay for the repair of the roof and if necessary will also pay for the hotel costs.

This is not a Personal Liability Insurance as it is more extended and covers many other things.

According to my insurance agent, this kind of insurance does not exists in Thailand.

IS this true?

Err....no.

Where do you come from??

As an ex-actuary (life and pensions), I can't see many insurances companies around the world accepting any of the risks that you mention, especially not in Thailand (apart from the TV antenna which would be covered by most household or home insurance policies).

I will need to look at a Family Insurance in my country to see what is covered and what not.
