I'd use a pc forum.... I don't trust anyone else with my pc but me. But maybe I just don't like hiding my porn haha!

When my pc software is going weird I format and reinstall windows... It's the best solution in any case anyways, keeps everything going smooth.

Pattaya2U at Tukom are very good.

Dirk, what do you mean by "advanced mode" ??

If you want someone who is trust worthy maybe head on over to Cafe Uno in Soi Khao Noi, the owner is very good with computers and fixes them as a sideline, if he is not busy most times he will sort it while you wait.

if you have problems wit any Microsoft software, try their hotline. I have petty good experience with them. Can PM you also an e-mail address of the MS hotline.

Won't they ask you for a valid serial number? :)

guess what, I have one :D

the advanced mode is when you push in the F8 button.

with a regular reboot it just gives you the options of

safe mode

safe mode with network

safe mode with command prompt

last known working config

or regular startup non of those options do any good

so I can get it as far as pushing F8 get into the advanced mode but there also non of the options seem to be doing any good as it keeps rebooting itslef in the reboot window over and over again.

Hmmm yeah wel if it keeps rebooting in the bootscreen you can't load a cd for a setup or anything as well... Maybe some badly connected hardware or even broken. I would personally firmly put all the parts back in place first, then ask a forum.

I'm sure the pc dealer can fix it for you!

Change the BIOS to boot from CD first.............

How to Set BIOS to Boot from CDROM:

All modern Computer Systems manufactured in the last years, support boot from cd feature, but it may be required to configure this feature in bios or previous owner of your computer system may have disabled this feature or may have changed the boot priority sequence )

When you start your computer, check the boot-screen for setup key, In most newer pc it will be DELETE key, so make sure to check it.

If it keeps restarting something is wrong. Even if the harddisk is missing, damaged or some system file is missing it will give you a black screen not reboot.

If you are able to acces the bios and boot from a cd make sure you have backups of all your files and know where to get your drivers later on (win7 has that all set up for you if you're lucky)

OK... First we need to find out if it's a hardware or software related problem.

Although it sounds like a driver or OS problem to me, we must confirm this with a little basic

troubleshooting.

If you have another computer, you can download and burn the Ubuntu Live CD

(http://www.ubuntu.com/getubuntu/download) using a very simple application called ImgBurn

(http://www.imgburn.com/) . Otherwise, you can bug one of your friends to help you burn a copy. Ubuntu is

one flavor on Linus and the live CD allows you to run it without installing to you hard drive. It is a BOOT

CD and using this will allow you run Ubuntu straight from the CD drive.

You should keep this CD in a safe place for any future troubleshooting.

Place CD into you drive and start your PC. Get into BIOS (This can be different for each manufacturer, but

is normally done by pressing the DELETE key. If you need more information on this check out

http://michaelstevenstech.com/bios_manufacturer.htm) and select boot from CD.

If the PC starts you will be operating Ubuntu. By doing this you have proven that your problem is a driver

or OS related and not hardware.

Once you have done this, PM me and hopefully we can move to next stage.

I retired to Pattaya in May 2009 after spending the last 13 years in PC support. Give me a rough idea of your location -will try to fix for you, either at yours or mine, if you are not too far away from where I live off the Soi Country club road. No charge -just like helping and keeping my skills honed up- perhaps a beer if I sort it OK.
