Enjoy the fireworks and festivities tonight but be aware of miss-guided missles held in the hands of the silly. A couple years ago while riding my bike down Loi Kroh road I got hit in the helmet by one. Have a few libations, but please don't drive a car or ride a scooter drunk. I hate seeing the accident reports on New Years day. I'll be out and about enjoying the scene and if you recognize me say hello.

To all my friends out there... have a great time.

Happy and safe New Year to you all. After today I have decided that I will not venture out for the next 3 days. I needed to do some business in my local town, and on the way back was forced off the road by some 'drunken' idiot (perhaps not drunk) and ended up in the ditch. Fortunately no a lot of damage and no injuries.

My faith was restored in the Thai locals, who rallied round and helped me back onto the road again. I offered to pay them some money for their efforts to buy something for Pee Mai but it was refused by all.

Hope the farang i saw get bottled on Khao Sarn Rd last night is okay this morning... loads of blood from a head wound..

Couldn't have happened in a better place..just in front of a bunch of cops with a flat cap officer there too...bit scary as massive crowd surge and gun pulled by one cop until the farang hit the deck and there was only empty space around him and nothing else going on....

This was metres away from me but i have no idea what happened or who did the bottling...

Time to leave and headed home.....

I survived another fun evening where I bounced back and forth between my two favorite bars. Lots of crazy fireworks in the city streets (Chiang Mai). Fortunately I only got stung by a few fire crackers and those bombs set in coconut shells. I wonder how many missing limbs there are today? I'll bet the hospitals were busy. I told my daughter in Canada what goes on here on New Years Eve and she got into her usual indignant self and proclaimed ... "That shouldn't be allowed!" Lots of luck. This is Thailand where the only rule is there are no rules... Just like the old wild west in North America... where only the strong survived.

I DID ride my bike into town, but parked it in the outer fringe where I wouldn't be jambed in by traffic. It was fairly sensible in the downtown core by 4AM... despite all the drunks. Right now my girl friend is sleeping off a bad hangover. I only drink in moderation so I'm okay.

I hope you all had a good, safe night and here's to a more prosperous new year to everyone.
