Our friends, who live in Hau Hin and have Thai cell phones, are visiting Anghor Wat in Cambodia.

Does anybody know if we can phone them from our Thai cell phone? If so what digits?

If so, who will incur the long distance charges?

{If it is them I want to make the call short about our next meeting. If it us, we want to talk a bit about some things.}

I always used 009-855-(0)11 etc , you take out the zero , Thai end pays and it ain't cheap .

Your friends will need a Cambodian sim card , we found 011 the lowest cost , cheers .

so it's 009 855 11 and their Thai cell phone number?

I don't know if they got a Cambodian sim card; wouldn't that involve a new phone number?

Okay , they get a Cambodian sim card , I suggested a series 011 for cost , their phone number will be (For example) 011-123-4567 , you use the prefix 009-855 followed by their number minus the zero 11-123-4567 as in 009-855-11-123-4567 .

They insert the Cambodian sim card in the phone and their new number comes with the card which the vendor will tell you . I always let the vendor register the card as sometimes there is or can be a problem when phoning in and knowing how to speak the lingo helps . Any doubts , just ask the hotel/guest-house/tuk-tuk man to do it for you , they are very helpfull and feel good about helping .

Hope this helps a little better , cheers .

Forgot to mention , Thai sim card will not work here , hence the need to buy a Cambodian one .

Bit of a long shot but does anyone know whether Anlong Veng (North West Cambodia on the way to the Isaan border) has Cambodian mobile phone access. I want to phone my Thai family to pick me up when I'm back close.
