I always supported the Saints when I was younger because thats where most Tasmanians went (Baldock, Stewart etc ) but when my idol, Carl Ditterich went to the Demons ,my loyalties went there also, and remain so. :o

I don't think you'll get many admitting to be a Collingwood Supporter. :o

As I spent my childhood and tertiary education in Geelong I must admit they are the team I follow most (mostly with disappointment :D)

As I also spent a lot of time in WA I also follow the West Coast Budgies and Freo.

No particular allegiances, just enjoy the greatest game on earth! :D

Another plus for LoS is that with ABC Asiapac on sattelite at home we get a better coverage of games than back in OZ. :D

As a resident of Perth.....its the Eagles for me....not the pretender anchor w**kers from the dock area.

used to be Carlton until the Eagles came into the comp.

First AFL game I ever watched about 20 years ago was Carlton vs collingwood. I thought the collingwood uniforms looked gay so I picked the Blues and have been undyingly loyal ever since. The game itself grew on me in a big way and its one of the few I will bother to watch on television, although the neighbours tend to complain about the language when we're losing.

That being said, I still think the best footie player of all time was Gary Ablett. It's not his fault he played for Geelong.

All I'm reading on this thread (except for cdnvic) is that you barracked for one team and then moved onto another team.

This usually comes from people who don't really follow AFL that much.

I can't see how you can do it. If I hear this from someone that I'm talking to my perception of them drops decidedly.

I've been following the Tigers from when I was around 5 years of age (thats as far back as I think I can remember anything). I have seen Premerships won and lost and I've felt misery for around 22 years whilst we have been down the bottom of the ladder.

Through thick and thin. That's what loyalty is. None of this "I used to follow this team and now I follow that team..." trite.

in WA we didnt have a local AFL/VFL team to follow so we followed an VFL team as well as a team in the WAFL.

But now we have 2 teams in the national comp so we follow our local AFL teams... I still support West Perth in the WAFL and have done for 30 odd years. But when the Eagles were formed I went for them...New teams needs supporters too.

any team playing collingwobbles and poo power, possibly a cupboard Crows supporter :o

If you re-read what I said, then you'll understand that I have no particular one-eyed allegiance to any particular team... I am an AFL supporter... a supporter of the game itself.

Carn the Cats!

MMMM McAttack, those of us who had the fortune of not being Victorians usually followed players from our particular state as we did not have a "home side".to hang our hat on, consequently we are not so parochial and can appreciate the deeds of opposition teams and players (collingwood excluded). I can also appreciate your misery since the Tigers last flag in 1980.

But you gotta admit ,individual loyalties aside,we all support the greatest game on earth..

Dom :o

The AFL ladder... as it stands right now...

The best bit....

1 West Coast Eagles 6.. 6.. 0 .. 0 ..640 .. 445 ... 143.82..... 24

on top with 6 wins no losses or draws....640 points for and 445 against...percentage of 143.82....competition points 24...

:D:D:o

Surely then you had to move to Richmond when Richo started there in 1993.

And yes, it is the greatest game on the Earth!

Hawthorn until the Crows entered the comp.

Basically, as long as its not a victorian team who wins the flag, Im happy! :o

Eagles from day 1 of their inception - was at their first game at Subi versus Richmond... great win.

Any other eagles supporters should check out here...

Was also at the 'G for the 94 flag.

Victorian teams may not have won too many Premierships in recent years (only because of concessions to the other States) however....

THE TIDE IS TURNING MY GOOD MAN!!!!!

Hawthorn until the Crows entered the comp.

No wonder you have to keep changing nicknames. :o

Smile! Me! Never!!! :o

I support the eagles and the dockers and whoever is playing Collingwood (bottom of the ladder at the mo' - wonderful) and the Port Poofs.

And Claremont when I get nostalgic about my younger days.

(them crows are playing good this year too...wish I'd put a lazy$100 on them before the start of the season)

Oiy! I was raised (unfortunately) with VFL. My main team is Essendon (Herd and I would get lattes together), but due to spending most of my childhood in Hawthorn, I can not help feeling some allegiance to them. I would like to disassociate myself from the game but find it impossible! Besides it's now in my blood!

At least you should be happy as BOTH your teams are together.....at the bottom of the ladder :o

Demons feast on Crow pie :o:D

I feel the same way Torny, as long as the mexicans (and poo power) are getting beaten it's OK with me :o

I support two teams, the mighty Cardinals (Falcons) of the WAFL, and the blistering Eagles of the AFL.

Reasons? My uncle used to play for the Cardies when ol' Polly was with em after he came back from over there, and the Eagles...well it needs no more explaination than that.

Carn the cardies, up the Eagles...

Who was your uncle....I may have seen him play

gburns57au,

his name is Bob Laidler, he was nicknamed "the champ" however he beat the crap out of the cardies chairman one night on the grog and was banned for life, he never played a game again. Shame as he was a very talented rover. He taught me to play as I was growing up in Toodyay and I actually showed some talent too, but I got into basketball (I was 6ft at 15, I ended up playing for the state).

Do you remember Bobby Laidler?

My Grandad used to play cricket when he was a young bloke, he played agianst the likes of schofield, bradman etc, but his alltime favourite cricketer was Victor Trumper, a bit before all of our times I think.

Great to chat with a fellow sandgroper.

Cant recall him and he doesnt appear on the Cardies website....however I found out that he was with the Wanneroo Roos in 1970.....B and F I think..... :D

Have watched Polly play and Laurie Richards and saw Fong as a teenager in his first season...Bill Valli is another that springs to mind. I have met Peter Bosoustows daughter quite a few times too.... :o
