micke421
Iam looking for a "professional" store that sell electronic components like LED, resistors, electric switches, relay and stuff like that. In the nordic region we hace a store named ELFA, and this is exactly what Iam looking for. so if there is any nordic reader this could be a help. does anyone know if there is any store that has alot of "high end" electronic components in bangkok? I have found a few of the US and europe companies but they dont have anything in stock, they only have a rep office, and usually I need it right away. thanks Mikael Edited January 12, 2010 by micke421

thaimite
You could try http://thailand.rs-online.com/web/ Not sure how much is available locally. A lot of their stock is kept in Singapore and takes 2 or 3 days to arrive. Not cheap, but you DID say High end
shaunoro
Go to Bang Mor near china town. Plenty of small shops and one supermarket size electronics store.
Chan mai roo crap
The best one stop shop for electronic components is called AMORN, the biggest branch is in a shopping center in the Ban Mor area, the shopping center is called "The old Siam" In Thai pronounce it as "deeo seeam" (for the benefit of taxi drivers), it's near china town. They have branches in many shopping malls around Bangkok. You will find the whole area of ban Mor to be very interesting, with many specialist outlets such as mechanisms, transformers, loudspeakers etc. It truly is an Alladin's cave of all kinds of semiconductors, capacitors, inductors, resistors. Hope this is helpful for you.

gregb
For anyone else who might be curious, there are only about 3 places in Thailand to get parts reliabily and reasonably quick. For basic stuff, like resistors, capacitors and other passive devices, NPE is the best place to go. They have 2 stores. One in Bahn Moh, and the other at Zeer Rangsit. They will also do mail order. You can find them at (http://www.mynpe.com) Their stores are linked by computer, so if they don't have a part at one, they can check immediately if it is in stock at the other. If you need surface mount components or things that are a little more advanced, you have the choice of Electronics Source (http://www.es.co.th) or Westech. (http://www.wt.co.th) The easiest way to shop at either of these is online, and they send you the components next day via EMS. The ordering interface from Electronics Source is much nicer, but I have had good experiences with both shops. Beyond that, Digikey and Mouser are your friend, but you need a credit card and a bunch of spare time, plus the shipping charges will be substantial. I have used both Farnell and RS in Thailand, but they are painfully slow and terribly expensive. They usually take 2 or 3 days to even get back to you, and then have a tendency to say "oh, we're sorry. That item isn't available in Thailand." Then why exactly is it on your website I might ask? I wouldn't recommend either of them unless you really can't get an item anywhere else. There are many things at various small shops in Bahn Moh if you have time and are in the mood for an experience, but when you want something specific and don't feel like going on a treasure hunt, the 3 places mentioned above are the places to go. If you live on or near Sukhumvit there is a shop on Soi 71 just past sub soi 15 or a small shop under the Phrakhanong BTS station Exit 2? (but not 4) on the same side as Rama IV
