Does Anyone Know A Veterinary Dermatologist In Bkk?

Featured Replies

Hello :)

Our cat has allergies that causes him to scratch areas of his face and back- basically anywhere where his claws can reach! At the moment it is controlled through steroids as he only really needs it during the warmer months. We're moving from Australia to Bangkok mid this year and as you can imagine its causing us to worry a bit as we don't want to feed him steroids all year round because it causes long term hormone damage. We have heard of Immunotherapy but unsure if this treatment is available in BKK. Does anyone know?

I have heard that Chulalongkorn, kasetsart and mahidol animal hospitals are quite good but I'm unsure as to whether they have a specialist animal dermatology department or if they speak english... Can anyone shed some light on this?

Has anyone had experience and/or know of and/or recommend an Veterinary dermatologist?

Cheers

Hi,

Thonglor Pet Hospital (near Soi 9 on Suhkumvit Soi 55) has a dermatologist, Dr. Jakaphan Wannawong. Our cat had a pretty bad case of feline acne under his chin, which is now clearing up thanks to topical treatments. I was impressed by Dr. Jakaphan's thoroughness. 02-712-6301. Oh, and he speaks excellent English.

Thonglor Pet Hospital is the cadillac of vets. Expensive relative to other places (but still very reasonable by U.S. standards) and very up to date in animal medicine.

Regards,

Sally

Hi Sally,

Thanks for the recommendation- we will most definitely give him a ring once we settle in. I suppose you get what you pay for... I don't mind Cadillac prices so long as its Cadillac knowledge and service I"m getting.

cheers,

:)
