I Will Be In Thailand For 85 Days (from U.s)

Ok I've purchased my plane ticket, I will be leaving The United States on Feb. 14th. I will be in Thailand until May 10th.

I was a little bit confused about what exactly I need to do to be able to get into and stay in Thailand. I thought I could go to thailand with the 30 visa exception and work it all out there. I thought I could get a 60 day extension by visiting the embassy in bangkok. But now I am reading that it is not the case. I keep reading all of this different information and I can't figure out what I need to do. I assume I need a tourist visa...... What is the easiest way to get one? You visit a consulate of Thailand or mail your passport there with an application. You do need the visa as the airline could block your travel without it. It gets you a 60 day entry that you can extend at Immigration inside Thailand for an additional 30 days at an additional cost of 1,900 baht (and a photo).

Travis, just go to the local Thai consulate close to where you live and buy two sixty day tourist visas. Take your passport and the relevant air ticket, and a passport photo. It should all be done in a couple of days.

Then you can have 60+60 days in the Kingdom, but you will have to leave one time at the end of the first 60 days, and then return for 60 more days, or else visit the immigration office WITHOUT leaving the country to buy a 30 day extension for the fair price of 1,900 baht. You will still need two passport photos and photocopies of your passport's main pages for that too, but for only 85 days, that might be quicker and easier and cheaper than leaving the country for the second half of a double entry visa.

I'd just check what they want before posting it, they probably have an online presence and if one place looks more difficult, head off to another.

Use an Honorary Consulate. Call them up first and see exactly what they require. Some are more flexible than others. Than use FedX or UPS. Honorary Consulates contact info is on the Washington D.C. Thai Embassy web site, but not too easy to spot, but its there.

This man is right on. I have done it many times before I got my retirement. Call first, to insure what is needed NOW, I needed the application, a money order, Passport type photo, your Passport, a prepaid Fed-ex envelope pre addressed to you, all items inside another Fed-Ex envelope to the Honorary Consulate. And ask them for a Non O visa for 90 days or double entry for 180 days, the cost used to be 50.00 dollars or about 1,700 baht and there is no need to get an extension in Thailand for another 1,900 Baht.

I do not where you live in America, however I used the Consulate in Alabama.

Just got my 60 day visa from the Honorary Consulate in Denver ,Co. called them up and talked to Jen she told me what I needed: passport. one photo, and application sent by express mail. Sent it out last week recieved it back this Wednesday, Monday was a holiday.

It is easy and since you will be there less than 90 days just get the 60 day visa and extend it for 30 days unless you have a trip planned out of Thailand around the 60 day period.

Denver has been told not to issue double entry tourist visas unless you show then a schelude of travel that would require a double entry. You can find address and phone numbers on the web.
