This is a serious quesiton and I need help on this one.

Are there any "AMERICAN" sports bars in Bangkok? I'm a big Baseball and College Football fan. It killed me last yr that they hardly had any of the baseball games that I wanted to watch, and there was like only 1 college game during the regular season then the bowl games....

So does anyone know of a sports bar where perhaps I can make a deal with the owner to order specific game that i want to watch??? Actually even better will be are there any satellite providers here in Thailand that allows us to get US programming? I know the embassy (US) has their own thing set up for their employees, but what about those of us who are not employed byt he embassy? Gettign my bro to send me taped games just isn't the same.... besides he's usually too busy to do that for me anyways...

So any hlep will be hightly appreciated. Thanks

I wish I could.

Try an American chained hotel?

dunno why, my typing has been really shit lately? My fingers just don't tap where I want them to anymore? maybe I'm typing too fast... but I also seems to be mispelling some REALLY SIMPLE words when I'm typing them.

It's like someone at the office asked me how to spell something, and I spelt it for them, then they're like how come you typed it out wrong in the document... and I'm just like <deleted>??? but lately it seems to be happening ALL the ###### time...I dunno maybe I'm really stressed or something?

I'm use to having letters typed in, in the wrong order, but sometimes letter that are not anywhere in the word end up there too...... so like is there a specialist I can see or something, because it's really starting to bother me. (going off on a tangent) :D:o

edit: um BTW, which "american" hotel chains are you refering to? I couldn't even think of one other than the W....and they don't have one in BKK, as far as I know of. And best western IS NOT a hotel, it's a shack!

So where will you be watching the baseball?

I dunno, most likely at home, but if Bourbon St. plays them I wouldn't mind going down there after work to catch a few games. I can't think of any places that might have it so.....???

Maybe I should see if I can make some friends with MP's or military personell stationed in Bangkok to see if they can sneak me into the embassy quarters to watch a few games here and there. ???

I wish the old ambassador was here, he was a golf buddy of my dads I definitely could have asked a favor if he was still here. :o

Bangkok is very lacking when it comes to American style bars and restaraunts.

Bourbon St like you said is good. I've seen baseball there before, but I don't know if they have a satelite or anything. Gullivers shows baseball too, I've caught a few games there before. Henry J Beans might be a good place to try, though I've never been there. They have American food, they might have baseball too.

man WAY back in the day ('91 or '92) we use to have a Champs sports bar here, they had all the american sports you could have dreams of. Granted I was barely a teenager then, and my memory of it now is very vague but I remember the yr my baseball team came in second in the BBL, and our coach took us out to eat there, we had a blast.

It's where Tony Romas is now..... Man I miss champs. :o

I caught all the NFL games at Gullivers last season (I think Gullivers may be owned by an American). I am sure if you ask they will try to tune in MLB.

Agreed this is a problem re: sports bars. They are probably not open when most American sporting events are being televised live?

On UBC, I have a pretty basic subscription, they usually have two or three baseball games each week on one of the four sports channels (ESPN, Star, others?) during the regular season, and then a lot, if not all, of the playoff and World Series. I think a World Series game might start at 07:00 locally?

There are a lot of American (NFL) games on each week. Maybe two Sunday day games, and the Sunday and Monday night games, all live. Monday Night Football starts at 08:00 (09:00 starting next week). So there are not a lot of sports bars open at these times? Note that many weekly events are re-broadcast in the evenings locally so maybe you might see some on in bars.

I had trouble, too, but I have found a solution. By May, 2006, I will have my own sports bar set up in BKK, not too far from Nanna complex. I will buy it by December of 2005, and should have it up and running by May. I will all sports, european stuff, but also American: football, baseball, hockey, basketball. Keep an ear open for Tigerland (named after my fiance) Sports Bar.
