57 Alleged Prostitutes Rounded Up In Phuket Town

Phuket ?......what a sleazy place :) ,im staying in Pattaya,. :D

I have traveled all over Phuket. Really a beautiful island. Many beautiful places to stay and to reside.

Lot's of expats living in Phuket. Nice homes. Nice areas.

Some of the punters here that visit Phuket have to get out of Patong. Patong is not Phuket.

Patong may be the most obvious example, but the other (tourist and expat) areas are v little different - one just gets to go a few metres more without the 'ladies' dancing outside the bar trying to attract the customers.

Good for them. I wouldn't mind a nice big prostitution crackdown. I can't stand it when the first thing people say when I say I live in Thailand is something about the women or sex or prostitution or AIDS. Sex will always be easy to come by here for foreigners, but it does not need to be advertised so openly and for sale everywhere you go.

I agree. I just sold my car on a visit back to the UK. The buyer said to me; " so where are you working abroad", I replied "Thailand", he replied, "you dirty bas*ard!".

He then went on to speak of 'what he had heard about Thailand'....I am sick of everyone tarring me with the same brush as all those who frequent prostitutes.

I don't frequent prostitutes, I prefer to often them.

Since moving here, my sex life has changed from "infrequently" to "in frequently". It's only a small gap, but they're the best kind.

And isn't it nice to have young ladies smile at you, rather than scream "What are you looking at you pervert?"

Hoteliers who allow guests to bring in prostitutes are aiding and abetting prostitution and therefore the hotel owners should also be arrested and charged.

Right?!

Yes, positively. Maybe flogged and roastet too. Oh, and while we're at it, sex is only okay between married people, for the purpose of generating offsprings. And shoot the wanke_rs too.

NOT :)

Duh! Wrong! What sort of cold war police state are you proposing? does my wife have to carry a copy of her marriage certificate wherever she goes? do es a de-facto relationship stop you from staying at a hotel? remember, quite a lot of buddhist marriages are not registered. if we're not legally married, but I give her housekeeping money, does that make her a prostitute?

Try telling a bar-girl that she's a prostitute (so-pee-nee) and you will get an interesting result. In her mind, she just has a lot of boyfriends.

Despite the serious nature of the charges, there was no mention of any criminal charges filed against the venue owners.

And how about the male customers? Were any of them rounded up and fined? That's crap.

Agreed. Even more: I think that only male customers must be fined. Girls should be punished by whipping

How can you whipp them surely thats a sign of pleasure for either party

It looks different, but actually per 100 people in Thailand there are less people working in the sex industry as in many other countries which a much more "pure" front.

Where did this little factoid come from?

The world is waiting, yes. Where did this factoid come from?

Could not agree more! Cleaning up the streets would be a nice start!

This is just so silly, I'm giving it another hit. How does a hotelier know that a girl is a prostitute? even if she comes into the same hotel 5 times in 1 night with different men, how does he know she's being paid? She might just like a good night out. I do. maybe put CCTV cameras in the rooms? even if you film him handing her a wad of cash, how do you prove that it's payment for sex?

police have a problem with this. In most countries, there has to be an offer of services and a price before they can charge. how does the desk clerk get that?

besides all that, what goes on behind closed doors between two consenting adults is nobody's business but their own, unless it's keeping the neighbours awake, and they don't like it.

Are TV members hypocites ?

If we have a thread about the Thaksin 'assets' case --- everyone says "The law is the law" -- no leniency -- take the money and lynch him !

...but now when it comes to sex --- so what if prostitution is illegal -- noone says "the law is the law - put all of the prostitutes in jail " -- no none of us are here for sex -- really ??

Ummm...sarcasm, I believe.

Maybe they will get DNA samples from the condoms and start knocking on doors soon:-)

Right on!And some hotels make more baht than the prostitutes by having you pay the ''joining fee''

Had some mates over last November ,all three booked into a popular mid-up market hotel in patong, and first night out , met the willing ladies and whipped back to the hotel with them.

Reception stops them and ''sorry, you can not take the lady to your room''.. we paid for double room already so we can take them.

NO says reception you can not..But if you pay 2000 baht each, OK then you can take to your room.

They are aiding and abetting for sure and also profiting from an illegal activity. :)

Surely there are more than 57 women in Phuket? Why not just arrest them all and discard a few? Were there any ladyboys included in that figure I wonder? :)

No..this was just in the 1st street!

Let's hope the police don't ever find out about what goes on in Bangla Road...

Oh I think Tanon Phum Phon Soi 11 Amphur Muang Phuket is probably where they should look, if the fuzz wish to score/in need of pocket money. Is the end of the month after all. Scores of Burmese "citizens" or "denizens" there and farang definitely "discouraged". Can a noodle tax be far behind?

THey were probably the ones doing the raid!

..fine with me..MOST of the " farang johns" are real "operators", that have no problem picking up women wherever they live, and they can "easily" just meet nice Thai women that do not work in the sex industry, and I just arrived from PLUTO.

After all, they were not buying "prostitutes" in farang land, rather they were hanging out solo at home, with the curtains drawn, propping up the porn industry, and counting the days until they returned to Soi 6, Nana, or Bangla Road.

..as for the Thai men, gosh, maybe they can move to Utah and join the Mormom polygamists... better yet, maybe they can inseminate 18 year old Thai women, and hang around to look after their progeny.

I wonder if Thailand is reaching the "Tipping Point" as in the authorities are increasingly uncomfortable with the LOS's international reputation with respect to prostitution. Of course it could also just be an isolated case of some owner(s) not tendering the usual tea money to the proper persons.

My gut tells me that the naughty night life scene may not be encouraged as in the past and only tolerated if it is more discreet.

Time will tell :)

Out of sight out of mind...works very well here.

:D

So if they continue to do raids. That would mean most of the girls would go home! lol Best open a place up in Isaan and sit back and wait for the influx of bus loads of Farangs, heading to their new vacation spot!! :)

the only difference between prostitution and marriage is some guys like to pay for each round and others like to run a tab - either way, you pay in the end. :)

No truer words have been spoken before

Hoorah, another crackdown... :)

Valentines day is coming up The police need funds for their giks... A decent sub from the owner who was behind on his payments and a whip round from the sex tourists who dont want to be deported.

On the other hand Its an exercise to see if Taxin could have amassed 76billion as a policeman before he went into politics
