Help Needed Changing Routers

Featured Replies

I have just changed Internet providers from Loxinfo 2 Mb to True 3 Mb.

When using Loxinfo I had download speeds of 1.8 Mb/s and now have 3.0 Mb/s so I am pleased with that.

I used to have torrent downloads of 200 kB/s with Loxinfo but now I am down to 50 kB/s with True. I realise this is something to do with port forwarding but I can't get any help as I don't know the model number of the Zyxel router..

I tried switching back to my Netgear router so that I could use the previous port settings and and set it up to connect with True. I know have an Internet connection and can use the laptop with Wifi but I can't get my desk top to communicate with the router (using LAN cable).

Any ideas?

Your slow speeds for torrents are likely due to downloading from overseas.

The overseas speeds are very slow.

If the peer you are connecting to is in Thailand, then you can get your full 3Mbps.

There are other reasons for slow download speeds, but this is most likely the one.

So why could I nearly always get 200 kB/s from Loxinfo but only 50 kB/s from True? I am using the same sources.

I will also add that the speeds are very inconsistent whereas before I was constantly on 200 kB/s.

I also have extremely slow torrent downloads and I have a 12 MB TOT connection; would you please share with me what you did to get to that speed?

Thanks!!! :)
