We had a kitesurfing Kite sent from the USA to Chumphon Thailand.

We just got killed on duty. We even had to pay duty on the postage of $117. They inflated the exchange rate and that cost us an additional $40. Altogether the duty came to $324 (10,748 Baht) plus postage to get it here. We were livid to have to pay duty on our own personal property we are leaving the country with. The value on the US customs form was $1700, so if lost we would be fully reimbursed.

Is there any way to get reimbursed for this when leaving the airport at the customs desk?

Please email me at: [email protected] if anyone can help with information.

Thanks,

Had similar thing happen with my personal clothing I shipped here from the states, they wanted 75000 baht OR I had to physically bring or mail my passport AND work permit to bangkok. They would not take color scanned copies I emailed to them. This was using fedex. I shipped the stuff using my fedex account, in the end I told them to bill the sender (me). Good Luck.
