Cant Connect To Intewrnet Through Local Connection

Recommended Posts

Hi I am a bit confused ! I have 2 connections into my lap top one thats wireless at 50mpbs and one thats a wired local connection at 100mpbs. But i think i am only getting the slower connection speed. If i disable the wireless 50 mpbs connection the local connection shows as still being connected at 100mpbs but i cant seem to get a connection to the internet on it, I cant work out why, any ideas?

Cheers

When you disable the wireless and hook up the DSL line your connection says not connected or you see 100 mbps? If you have a signal but cannot connect try opening the internet vie Mozilla. I could not open Internet explorer but could open Mozill so it was a trip back to Panthip and now everything is ok. Once your connected try www.adsltest.com and try the Thailand speed test.

I do see a 100 mbps connection as active. Have tried Mozilla but it won't connect on that. Not sure why I cant connect?

Jasus.. talk about anal.

Your missus not putting out at the moment ?

To the OP - If you disconnect the wire, does the 100mbps cable then show as unplugged ? Is the wire coming via the wireless router, or is it a different source altogether ?

Also, using the 50mbps connection will only affect your internet speed if your package is more than a 50mbps connection (which is unlikely in Thailand), it's only a slower connection if you are transferring files over a local network

mmm it sounds like you are only connected "locally" and not to the web, try to check this, click "Network Connections", then right click on "Local Area Connection", select "Properties", in "TCP/IP" click on "Properties" again and see that all options ticked are the ones mentioning to get what they need AUTOMATICALLY, also you can try to open Internet Explorer-->Tools-->Internet Options-->Connections-->Lan Settings-->make sure that "Automatically Detect Settings" got a tick on his box, you might want also to disable your firewall very briefly till your pc can establish a proper connection with your router/modem, but don't forget to re-enable it as soon as you are done....
