All Farage had to do was make simple statement along the lines: ‘I believe I have complied with all the rules, I can not comment further as the matter is under investigation, I support the investigation which I am confident will exonerate me’ What he’s actually done is offer multiple conflicting explanations, attack the newspaper with threats of legal action, become increasingly aggressive in his responses and in his latest grandstanding pantomime flounced. He’s inviting more of the scrutiny he deserves but that he can’t handle. He’s also inviting scrutiny of his benefactors, I expect that is not being received with appreciation.
