Tax is 390.46%, OUCH!

A CIF Invoice Value of Imported Wine $100.00

B Tariff (Import Duty): A x 54% $ 54.00

C Excise Tax Paid: Excise Tax Rate x (CIF

value+import duty+excise tax paid+municipal

tax) or 1.7647059(A+:)

$271.76

D Municipal tax: C x 10% $ 27.17

E Health tax: C x 2% $ 5.44

F Value Added Tax: (A+B+C+D+E) x 7% $ 32.09

G Total Cost: (A+B+C+D+E+F) $490.46

Effective Duty and Tax Burden 390.46%

Well, get a tub of Vaseline, drop your pants, bend over and customs will take it from there....

Sorry, I am as frustrated as anyone about the wine import situation in Thailand. :)

that sounds about correct :D

..and remember that when you purchase next time a bottle of plonk @ 299 Baht...the CIF value was in that case little over the costs for the cork. :)

So,I think it's better for me forget my idea to import wine, because in cause I do it,I will pay that wine more than one I can find here in the wine shop.

But Istill misunderstaind how the distributor can get the price lower than mine, because I mind the have to pay the tax and duty like me.

thanks to everybody for your answer
