This is a tip for travellers to Koh Samet Island. Consider staying at 1 of the guesthouses in Ban Phe (the mainland city that is the gateway to the island) and save money on your accomodation costs. Each year the high season accomodation prices kick in on the island but in Ban Phe a few guesthouses have a flat all year pricing structure. Then u just pick up one of the many ferries going half hourly to the island for a hundred baht. Its a great island but can be expensive in peak periods.
