BANGKOK: -- The government will next week launch a publicity campaign designed to explain the judicial proceedings related to two high-profile cases - the airport seizure incident involving the yellow shirts in 2008 and the Bt76 billion impounded assets of ex-premier Thaksin Shinawatra.

The campaign is expected to dispel lingering doubts about injustice and double standards, PM's Office Minister Satit Wongnongtaey said Wednesday.

"The red shirts are trying to smear the judicial system and the government is obligated to explain the facts in order to counter any attempts to politicise the judiciary," he said.

In the face of the swaying of sentiment by the red shirts, members of the public need to access pertinent facts in order to form judgement, he said.

The government's publicity blitz will take place from Monday to February 25. It is to be presented in various programming formats via print and broadcasting outlets.

BANGKOK: -- To prevent the red shirts from inciting public unrest by distorting the fact surrounding the Thaksin asset seizure case, and the double standards allegation, the government will stage a campaign through state media to explain the fact in connection to the issues.

A variety of radio and television progrommes such as scoops and seminars on Thaksin's assets seizure case and other cases cited by the red shirts will be presented to the public starting 8-25, PM's Office Minister said on Wednesday.

The move came after the red shirts unveiled their tight itinerary rally plan this month to mobilise support and protest against the government and state independent agencies such as the Election Commission and the National Counter Corruption Commission.

Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva urged the public not to fall victims to people who want to incite public unrest and not to panic and screen information before believing it.

"Many times speculations and prediction they make did not turn out to be true. So do not be taken in by what they say,'' he said.

Abhisit believed the red shirt movement would be intense before the court ruling. "I cannot tell if the situation will subside sooner or later after the verdict,'' he said.

Please can you supply further details, of these alleged "Human Rights Abuse by abisit", or is it merely a reference to the long-running military treatment of the Rohingyas, when found trying to enter Thailand illegally en-route to Malysia ?
