Mukdahan-savannakhet

Recommended Posts

Thought I would try the Mukdahan crossing this time.

As I live in Sakon Nakhon I went by bike, 2.5 hrs with a sore bottom :D .

Parking the bike, 20 baht. This is on the left hand side at the crossing. Same place for cars.

Shuttle bus over to Laos side, 50 baht. Ticket booth also on the left hand side just before Thai

immigration. Get off Laos side and go and get Laos visa which a small office with a small red

sign ' Laos Visa '. Pay 1500 baht, don't forget your photo. Go through Laos immigration and pay 80

baht (they say for your stamp) :) . I turned straight back around and back through immigration,

pay 80 baht again :D . Buy bus ticket again 50 baht.

Not busy at all, and this was Saturday morning time. Duty Free is small not like Nong Khai.

Sore botty going back home :D .

Don't know nothing about that Chris.

What I did find out, It only takes 4 hrs from the Laos border to get to Vietnam.

You can go to the Vietnamese consulate in Savannakhet to obtain your visa.

Some useless information there :) .
