In general, when a Thai applies for a tourist visa to the US, how long is the wait between the submission of the application and the interview?

Also, if a lease on a house (15,000 baht a month) with 6 months remaining was in the Thai applicants name, would this be seen as a positive as she is likely to return home to take care of this responsibility or a negative as it is a reason to never return? The same question goes for car payments in the amount of 10,500 baht a month. Payments have been paid on time for a year and a half and there are three and a half years to go.

If more details might help, the applicant is also a Director and 46% shareholder in a recently registered Thai corporation... which has no assets as of yet.

The applicant can show statements of about 20,000 baht coming into her account each month from her job (I pay for most of the above expenses), but she has no savings to speak of. Is lack of savings a big negative and if so, is there any use in quickly depositing baht in order to pad the account so to speak?

Also, the applicant is a university graduate, but does not have any land in her name.

Thanks!

Outside the gates of the US visa office there is a sign which will say: Applications accepted today will be interviewed on .... . I think the current wait is about 7 or 8 weeks.

Good luck!

Anyone else have a comment?

One additional question. Is the lease on our house better off as it is in my name (as this shows that I will return and my GF will likely return with me) or is it better off in her name to show that she has responsibilites to come back to?

Or am I thinking way too much?

The waiting time at the Chiang Mai consulate between applying and the interview is usually one day according to the consulate. But only Thais from a few provinces have the right to apply there. The rest have to go to BKK where its a 7-8 week wait.
