Drug Education In Thailand - Does It Exist?

Recommended Posts

Does anyone know if the Thai Government or any of its agencies like health ministry actually educate people on the health and social effects of taking drugs like yaaba and ice.

Are there any TV educational adverts or poster campaigns in Thailand?

I know Thais that use yaaba and/or ice as purely recreational and have no idea of its effect on their brains and body.

Instead of focusing on drugs, they should concentrate on the effects of alcohol abuse on society/health as this poses a bigger risk than Yabaa and Ice

At schools they pay attention to it, there are posters warning people about health consequnces and students make boards about drug use. How good the information is I can't tell.

My parents, Aunts and Uncles and even Grandparents had no education about drugs and never took them, well they used to believe the heroine and cannabis are on a similar level .... me and my generation (30s) had a fair old bit and became the biggest bunch of recreational and not so recreation drug users in recent history.

Availability and how accepted they are in amongst the youth is a more important factor then education, and now the kids know they can be fun i cant see it changing anytime soon .... besides i dont believe a government has the right to stop me smoking a few rocks in the privacy of my own home should i so desire.

You're having a laugh, right!

How about start with teaching them how to cross a fricking road? how to put a helmet on when riding a motorcycle? how not to drown? How not to dilliberately walk infront of moving vehicles? How not to stand in the middle of the space you are trying to park in and pass them selves off as helping.

Failing that, has anyone got a match?

Yeah its been one of them days... :)

The "To be Number One" project of HM Kings oldest daughter Princess Ubonrat is a worthy project. It is in fact getting through to the target group who are easily influenced teenagers. I know this post will cop all the one-off sarcastic marks of jaded farangs, but from my point of view, this program gets a big thumbs up for trying to hit the right cord..

Maybe they should focus on educating people on these risks instead of slapping on prohibition after prohibition. Just a thought.

Does a person who picks up a hammer and smashes their finger not get an education?

Parents have been telling their children for generations on how to avoid mistakes they did in their lives.

Did any children heed these or try it to see for themselves?

give them a reason to live and the people will make their own decision on the value of life.

Im 46 years old, and from northern Europe.

I dont remember we had any formal education in regards to how dangerous drugs are (and why).

Its just one of those things we learn in the society.

There is an alternative to illicit drugs that starts with L and ends in E.

It's called a LIFE. When people see a future in their future, they have no time in their evenings to muck around with yabaa. Too bad that takes rich parents or costs a fortune, or else everybody in this country and on this planet would be looking forward to a good sleep tonight and wake up to a bright and shiny AMG-Mercedes fueled drive to the office in the morning .

If you want to address the problem and find the solution, then look at what causes it or keep out of other peoples' personal business.
