Marriage Visa And Visa Runs

Featured Replies

Can anyone pls advise if you're on a marriage visa and have a WP with a small company (less than 4 Thai staff) would you still be required to do a visa run every 90 days?

my understanding is that the size of the company (Revenue/assets and number of Thai staff) determines if you need to do a visa run or not (on a non-imm B visa) but just wondering if this rule still applies if on a marriage visa

cheers for any help

There is no such thing as a marriage visa. You either have Non-O visa issued by consulate abroad on basis of marriage to Thai, or an extension of stay issued by Thai immigration.

WP/company setup has nothing to do with immigration. If your permission to stay is based on Non-Immigrant visa entry you will have to do a border run every 90 days. If your permission to stay is based on extension of stay you will have to report your address to immigration every 90 days instead.

If you have and extension of stay from Immigration determines if you have to make border runs. If you do not have an extension of stay a visa entry is only for 90 days.

Hi Thaipoon

Thanks for the reply. So I guess there're no concessions with visa runs if you're a Non-Immi O visa. correct? I.E. If my WP is with a company employing less than 4 Thai staff (or is it 2 if married?) and hasn't been operating for 2 years I will have to do the visa runs regardless of what visa I'm on?

cheers

Yes, whilst on Non-O visa entry you will have to do a border run every 90 days (assuming you hold multiple entry visa).
