Black Crows-- Not The Band

Featured Replies

Recently 30-40 black crows have decided that the trees in front of my house are a great place for them to fly around, drink from my pool and generally make a nuisance of themselves, not to mention leaving multiple calling cards that drop from the sky.

Is there some sort of deterrent, besides a few shotgun blasts, that is easy to obtain? I've heard of the fake eagles idea, but where would I get these in Phuket? Anything else that might work? These "caw caw caws" are starting to be a pain in the ***.

A plastic snake? Slingshot, firecrackers, cats.

Same as the ones in India, everywhere there!

Think there called <deleted> hawks there

:)

Get an old 1/2" VHS Cassette Tape and cut a few 3 or 4 foot lengths then drape them in the trees the birds usually perch in - they will (hopefully!) think the reflecting bands are snakes and leave for pastures new.

Don't cut too many lengths however - Crows are remarkably smart and will feel there is something wrong if too many "snakes" appear all at once.

Thanks. Looks like there's some free make it yourself type deterrents, as well as some commercial products such as the sound deterrent and the water blasting motion activated device.
