Is it as easy as Laos? All I want is a single entry, do I need to show 20k as proof of funds for my trip? Onward flight ticket etc... Thanks for any advice.

Not unless your appearance or passport country suggests they should ask. It can always be asked; but seldom is.

Any updates on KL for a tourist visa? Is it still just your passport and a photo?

Could you submit your application in the afternoon and collect it two or three days later? I'm in no hurry.

Apply morning day 1, collect afternoon day 2 is normal practice but suspect will be ok. Check with embassy when you submit your application.
